The Riverbend Colts

Riverbend Elementary School resides on the property once known as part of Sutter Hock Farm, founded by Captain John Sutter, a prominent pioneer in California’s history.

In 1841, Captain John Sutter built a home at Hock Farm along the west bank of the Feather River, a few miles south of what would become Yuba City. Hock Farm supplied the settlement at Sutter’s Fort, and had well over thousands of horses and livestock freely ranging his farm property.

Riverbend Elementary School’s school mascot, the colt, signifies the energy and spirit of our pioneers. The riparian theme is existent in our school building and landscaping, and the Riverbend Colts will continue the link from the past to the future in our school community and culture.
